Princeville Botanical Gardens (formerly Ahonui Botanical Gardens) is a family owned and operated garden paradise located in the Princeville area of Kaua'i. The Robertson Family, with the help of their close gardening friend, have transformed their 8 acre retirement home into a breathtaking garden with dramatic landscaping in two steep valleys. The Robertsons grow a small cacao (chocolate) grove and process their own homemade dark chocolate. Part of every tour is a short chocolate tasting and lesson on how the family makes their chocolate. The fun, educational tours of the garden include ethnobotanical and medicinal uses of plants, stories and information about native Hawaiian and "canoe" plants, and much more about a diverse collection of species from around the world.Visits to our garden are by APPOINTMENT ONLY. "Drop-ins" will be turned away and asked to book a reservation on one of our guided tours. Please call us before visiting.

This 27-hole Golf Facility was designed by Mr. Robert Trent Jones Jr.-in the late 1960s. We recently went through an extensive renovation to 18 (Oceans & Lakes Nines) of our 27 holes (Woods Is Still Open But Was Not Renovated). The new 18 was opened in January of 2010 and is now know as the Makai Course. The new and improved championship Makai course is a breath taking par-72 at over 7,200 yards. We proudly boast some of the most epic ocean/mountain views Hawaii golf has to offer.

This is a unique activity on the island. It's very hard to find any kind of sailing excursions, but this one is unique in that you are sailing on a 45 foot Traditional Hawaii Sailing Cone which was made by one of the young owners. The 1 1/2 hour sail includes a tour of beautiful Hanalei Bay, snorkle time and frequent turtle and dolphin sightings. It's a chance to spend time with authentic locals who know what Hawaii is all about.

"I spent some time today hunting for the trailhead to Queen's Bath. Thanks to a local resident who saw me wondering near his yard, I was able to find it. Tip for other travelers: Park in the designated parking lot and the trail head is immediately to the right of the lot. The hike down is only ab..."out 5-10 minutes depending on your fitness level; since it rains daily, parts of the path are slippery and visitors should plan on wearing something other than flip flops/slippers if they want to avoid any slip and falls. Once you hike down the dirt path, you'll come to another 1/4 mile hike over lava rock - this was mostly dry but again a challenging hike. The reward is the beautiful view, and of course Queen's Bath. There were probably 20-30 people there when I was there today, so I didn't feel like I could really swim around in Queen's Bath and enjoy it without worrying about my stuff - but that's probably the security background in me. :)
I saw a few sea turtles (not in Queen's ...

"After reading the reviews I was concerned about the hike down. We did it in the early part of May of this year and found it to be a short hike, steep in some places; rocky and rooty in some places, but overall fairly easy. I could, however, definitely see how it might be difficult if wet and mudd..."y.
FYI, if you are staying at the St Regis or any of the condos around that area, it is a fairly easy walk to the trailhead, probably about a mile one way.
Can't imagine young children playing in or near the bath, as you do have to hike down some rocks to get to the bath itself and the bath is deep all around, no shallow areas. Snorkeling was just okay. We didn't see any turtles, which was a disappointment.
With the beautiful view of the shoreline from this area, and the easy hike down (in good weather) would highly recommend this attraction.

"We have enjoyed playing the Prince Course during our multiple visits to Kauai, however this year they have out priced themselves and the golf course looks empty. Still LOVE the course and was very disappointed we could play even during twilight play. Bummer!"
