"Been a member here for 5 years. My kids have learned so much through creative fun and play. Also, if you join, membership gives you FREE access to museums and science centers all over the US."
"TIP: We visited on a Wednesday morning, which is FREE ADMISSION!!! We live in the Shenandoah Valley, so this museum did not tell us much we didn't already know. However, if you are visiting the area, this is a great place to help you understand the geography and history of the area, and why it de..."veloped the way it did. We enjoyed the house replica, since it is under renovation and not accessible. The miniatures were very interesting. We were there in early April, so the gardens had just opened for the season, so no flowers. I am sure that in the later spring and summer the rose and other gardens are stunning.

Before leaving the museum, step into the gift shop and look up. It's a garden-within-a-building. Next we headed for the gardens and found the clear highlight of our visit in the unexpectedly impressive Chinese garden. Moss, stone, water, bamboo, and Koi are expertly stitched into this nearly hidden serene and superb Shenandoah landscape.
