With all 42 Presidents sculpted busts standing ten-time life size in a lavish Black Hills Garden on a nature trail complete with Presidents history and biographical information. Artist David Adickes sculpted the huge busts of all 42 presidents of the United States over the last five years and transported them to Deer Mountain near Lead and Deadwood, South Dakota between Mount Rushmore and Devils Tower Wyoming. The Presidents Park sculpture garden is 20 acres of beautiful, mountain meadows with towering Ponderosa pines and wild flowers. A gentle trail meanders through the trees and is bordered by the monumental busts. Beside each bust is a panel with biographical and other relevant information pertaining to that President. A large, chalet-styled visitors center contains a gift shop, Cafe D'Artiste, with a light gourmet menu, and a Starbucks Coffee House. Also available in the center are books, history & articles of relevance to the presidents. Other art objects are also on display. And an educational center is planned in the near future.
Our full service VISITORS CENTER opens June 1, 2002 with local Music, Art Exhibits and Starbucks Specials.

"A fascinating glimpse into the history of the Black Hills, a mining town that prospered for over 100 years and gold mining. The n]museum, shop and move are excellent and the chance to look into one of the deepest open cast mining pits in the world is extraordinary."
"This museum especially centers around the Homestake Mine in the area and all of its history. The Homestake is now closed (though there is a new project underway for a neutrino lab in its bowels), but the miners from that mine helped put together the static exhibits downstairs that you can see if yo..."u do the tour. There is still a lot of good information in the regular exhibits, but add the tour for a complete picture of this famous mine.

"We liked taking the old-time trolley around town with a local guide that pointed out the historic buildings (many of which had been moved to accommodate mining territory changes). The town tour was followed with a tour to the now-closed Homestake Mine, one of the largest gold mines in the US. Ther..."e is a now a new lab being built at 8000' down in the mine to study neutrinos.
