"Brooksby Farm is a terrific destination for visitors to the Boston area who are looking for an outdoor, semi- rural experience within easy distance of Boston or North Shore communities. Open year-round, the farm is owned by the City of Peabody and located at the site of a 100+ year-old orchard. Th..."e big draw is fall apple-picking, but I enjoy going year-round. Other fruits are also offered on a pick-your-own basis starting with strawberries in the spring, though I’ve limited my picking to apples. There’s also a farm store, open from late spring until New Year’s Eve, where those (like me) who don’t pick their own can buy fruits and vegetables grown on the farm. The store also sells Brooksby cider (my favorite cider!), baked goods, and locally-made products like jams, jellies, and maple syrup. In the fall, hot, mulled cider is available by the cup--I seldom pass it by. The farm also has lots of barnyard animals that are a big hit with families. Several picnic tables are available....

"The Greenway starts just 1/2 mile from my house and I have enjoyed it many times. The scenery is nice and its well maintained. Just beware of the coyotes in the fall. they won't bother you but are around. The trail is much shorter than the Lexington Minuteman trail, but its also not as heavily used..." and is great for kids, shorter jogs and general walking. If you get thirsty, pop into Hannafords super market mid way for a beverage.

"Just took the dog for a walk down the Independence Greenway Rail Trail today--it's really convenient and takes you through a more peaceful part of town. I'm glad the city of Peabody invested so much into this trail. Definitely surprised there weren't more families out today riding their bikes! I ..."just hope that the city extends the trail to cross under I-95/rt-1 so users don't have to get onto Lowell Rd. anymore.
