Some 1,500 species of watchable wildlife call this lush stretch of habitat along the Mojave River home, making it a magnet for bird-watchers, horseback riders and campers. The park’s two lakes not only attract migratory birds but also make it a popular fishing spot. You can bring your own mount or rent horses and ponies from the on-site stables.Mojave Narrows’ flat, open terrain includes pastures surrounded by cottonwood and willow trees. The park, located in the Victor Valley area, boasts lots of activities for visitors. Facilities include group and RV campsites ( some with lake views), a playground, waterpark, picnic shelters and hiking trails. A low ropes course is also planned.

"This information appeared Wed., March 13, 2013 in the Victorville Daily Press.
After three empty years, the Mojave Narrows Regional Park in Victorville will soon see the restoration of Horseshoe Lake.
Repair work began on the popular lake in early February according to a news release from San ..."Bernardino County Regional Park officials, on schedule to complete the project by mid-July.
“Horseshoe Lake is such a beautiful and truly unique setting — a great place to relax with the family,” 1st District Supervisor Robert Lovingood stated in the release. “So, it’s great news that the lake will soon open again.”
A storm in January 2010 destroyed a dam and the lake drained, washing more than 1,000 pounds of trout and catfish onto established wetlands and into the Mojave River.
Officials hope to restore the lake to an “optimal depth for fish habitat” — 8 feet — by removing sediment. Improvements will also be made to the levee to handle storm water flows, according to the release.

"The staff is SUPER friendly. You would think you where in the south. Lots of things to see from Route 66. Love the jute box and the shows. It's small but well worth it.... It's free. "
