The viewing platform costs a couple of dollars to visit, and you cannot bring big bags.... The remaining height of he building above you is where the carillon is housed. You can hear the bells played weekdays and Saturdays at 7:50 am,noon, and six pm, but the best concerts are the ones on Sundays that start at 2 pm. Bring a blanket, lie on the grass of the esplanade, and enjoy! Make it a part of a visit to this beauty of a college campus. The Cal campus is easily accessed by BART.
