Relatively short walk, only 3.6km. The hills and descents are very steep. Be sure to take your camera and eats because when you reach the Homtini River the rewards are satisfying and you will want to spend some time there. The waters of the river are very refreshing and is a great idea to take your swim wear for a dip in the summer.

This 75 km historic road was completed in 1883. Rivers generally flow in deep gorges on their way from the mountains to the sea, therefore there are seven passes along the way, hence the name of the route. These are the passes crossing the Swart-, Kaaimans- and Silver-, Touw-, Hoogekraal- and Karatara rivers, the Homtini gorge and the Phantom pass. Knysna Phantom Pass to Saasveld George | 75 km | +/- 1 Hour, 30 min driving time

"The kids and us enjoyed the swimming, we made a fire for lekka potjiekos which we enjoy with nice wine. There after we went to the cafe and bought each an ice cream. Before we went we had one last swim and a stroll along the sea. We really had a nice "kuier lekker" the kids loved this and they naggi..."ng us because they wants to go there again. I guess we will go again when the wether allows us again to go. Awesome

"There's a great little restaurant/bar here that is well worth a visit. The owner is very welcoming and helpful. As a visitor to South Africa it was quite refreshing to find a place where you could happily stroll around at anytime of the day and we were shown a lovely spot along the beach worthy of..." a visit. Also some nice accomodation available.

"An excellent opportunity for people who want to catch a glimpse at the living conditions of black people in Knysna; whether these are typical for South Africa has to be found out by further visits of other townships. By the very personal tour one can experience the improvement in living conditions ..."of black people, but one can also get an impression of the huge challenges that this nation still faces.
