"The visit to Hiroshima was included with a trip by Japan Journeys at cherry blossom time.Arrived in Kyoto for a five night stay at the Tokyo Inn.The room was very small,no hanging space very disappointed at the start of the tour. The trip to Hiroshima was on day five by the bullet train. The visit was..." very moving especially the Peace memorial park and museum. The buildings which were left as a memorial were particulary thought provoking.Next day travelled to Hakone staying in the beautiful Prince Hotel in view of Mount Fuji. The last four days were spent in Tokyo which again was an amazing experience. The trip overall was fantastic, our tour guide David was exceptional, very organised. The people are very polite and helpful and you felt safe wherever you visited.Would recommend this trip to anyone considering visiting Japan.

You will pay 150Yen as you leave the car and will be directly across the street from the Dome, the most known building to anyone who has seen a photo of the A-bomb destruction. It is very moving to see this building, especiall..."y when one realizes the bomb exploded 500 meters southeast at an altitude of about 2000 feet above ground level. This is a real ground zero place! Walk south and cross the bridge into the park. The park is lovely and there are many monuments to see including a dome covering the remains of about 70,000 people. A museum is to the south and the cost is only 50Yen to enter. There you will see a timeline history of the area, a discussion about the decision to bomb, many other displays on the city and of course the role the city plays in nuclear disarmament movements. Another part of the museum has artifacts of the bombing including human shadows, body parts, structural remnants, etc. It is easy...

"A lot of world history tied in with this site. Make your think of wars, destructions..... Visit also the Peace Park and the Memorial Museum nearby. All close to the city centre. Should go there during the day. The surrounding is a bit dark in the evening. "
