"This was a great place to see and feed the deer, very friendly although they can get a bit pushy when waiting for you to unwrap the food . The food was 150 yen for a packet of wafer like biscuits. There was a strip of tourist shops . Great place to visit."
"Nara park is beautiful and relaxing, where I enjoyed a few hours with the deer, just relaxing on my way to Todaiji Temple, which is a house to the big Buddha."
"Nara Park, with its 3 world heritage sites, is worth a visit. But take note though that this is a vast park, more than 8 kms. of walk a little uphill/downhill. Best to consider renting a bike (visitor's information center will direct you to bike rental place) for JPY500/day.
Our first short stop ..."was at the 5-storey pagoda. Nothing fantastic as we've seen prettier ones in Bali. Right beside this pagoda is the Kofukuji Museum. Worth getting in. The 8th century relics preserved/restored in various mediums are awesome. There are just a few on display but it is worth seeing them in their original forms.
Todaiji Temple, with one of the world's biggest Buddhas, was so crowded with students. But the site was worth it. Don't forget to do the side trip to nigatsudo hall (right side if you're facing Todaiji) as it gives a great view of Nara.
The best visit was at Kasuga Taisha Shrine with the more than 3,000 stone lanterns lining both sides of the road. They're just so pretty... Remind...
