"It's worth heading down the bumpy road/path to Brief Garden. Just when you think you're being taken the long way by your driver or tuk-tuk the road turns sharply up a hill and the landscape changes just enough so you'll know you're in for a treat. Up the drive you go-- if you're tired of the car, go..." ahead and get out and walk here-- and soon you'll arrive in a circular drive with two doors. Ring the bell and the caretaker will greet you. "This turtle conservation encourages local people to discover turtle eggs in the beach and bring them to the project. They pay a few pence for each egg and then rebury them in a sandy enclosed plot to ensure the can safely hatch without fear of predators. This entire process is designed to give the baby turtles the greatest chance of survival and it works!
There are also some specimen turtles for you to see and these are mainly disabled turtles who would not have survived in the wild. They are given their own tanks and are well looked after.
The project suffered greatly at the time of the tsunami however they have rebuilt stronger tanks and contintued their good work.
For a relatively small entrance fee (a few p...
