Don't be taken in by the deoartmant stores as they are very expensive walk upp through the Indian sector and take in the beautiful sari's etc. Do be prepared to walk up..." the hills to find the best bargins. Down by the water is the wood carving market don't accept the first bargin and go from one shop to another for the best price walk through the whole place for different clothes and wares be prepared for the heat inside. The fruit market is intersting dont be afraid to try some of the local food. I am sure if you wander through the alley ways you are sure to find something interesting. Be aware though of some of the local people maily indian that will seem to be helping you find places but then will ask for money for their service ignore them and wander on your own you cant get lost.   "Small but informative"
  "We arrived on the Carnival Spirit in the last days of March 2013. We walked from the Suva Port terminal to the museum, looking at the various rundown colonial buildings along the way. It only took about 30minutes at Fijian pace. This is a basic museum, but we thoroughly enjoyed it and learnt a lo..."t about Fiji's history and culture. It only took an hour or so and we were not overloaded with information which was good! There is ancient pottery, botanical watercolours, a wedding dress made from plants, a colonial/sugar plantation recreation, traditional boats, modern paintings, lots of photos through the ages ...etc all very varied. It is not totally airconditioned, but we lingered in the parts of the museum that had it. " More >

  "A great history lesson"
  "Being of fijian descent this was a great stop over to look at Fiji's history and to share with my children who are half Aussie. Definitely worth a stop over if you have some downtime in Suva."
