Windhoek, Namibia’s capital city, is described as a city with a ‘continental’ atmosphere and this can be ascribed to its architecture – historical buildings dating back to German colonial rule. Windhoek was initially known as Ai-gams a Nama word meaning ‘firewater’, ‘steam’ or ‘smoke’ because of the area’s plentiful hot springs.

"It's pretty - that's about it. Best thing is it is around the corner from the Parliamentary Gardens which are gorgeous and worth strolling a little further to see."
"This is a lovely place to spend some time. There is a vast array of crafts on display - many of them made in South Africa, rather than Namibia so check your labels. Best thing here is the cafe where they serve some lovely meals. The apple crumble is fabulous. I'd been told about that by just about e..."veryone I met in Windhoek - they weren't lying!

"I did an overnight trip with Sam and it was incredible. She loves her horses so much and I was so happy with SuperNova, who she choose for me to ride. The riding was excellent, the scenery and views were amazing, and our picnic's and snacks were perfect. I especially loved that Sam was well stoc..."ked with treats for her horses after the long hours of riding. I really could not have asked for a better overnight horse backriding experience.
After leaving Equitrails, I managed to leave my camera behind. Sam went above and beyond and found a friend of a friend that was traveling back to the NYC and returned my camera. This was incredible, because we learned that mailing a camera from Namibia to NYC was very expensive.
I rarely write reviews, but after horseback riding at quite a few location in Africa, I have to say that none of them came close to Equitrails. Sam is an incredible rider, her trails are stunningly beautiful and she loves and cares for her horses.
