Il progetto del Conservatorio botanico “I giardini di Pomona” abbina la conservazione della natura all’accoglienza turistica a basso impatto, in un contesto paesaggistico di grande fascino, nel centro esatto della Puglia, proprio nel punto di incontro delle tre province di Bari, Brindisi e Taranto. I dieci ettari del conservatorio botanico, condotti con metodo biologico, si trovano a Cisternino, nel cuore della Valle d’Itria, anche conosciuta come la valle dei trulli.Sono già state messe a dimora oltre 800 cultivar, seguendo il sistema tradizionale, usato dai contadini di tutto il mondo, dell’impianto per file. Ciò rende il paesaggio del conservatorio perfettamente integrato a quello circostante. La ricchezza e particolarità di questa banca della biodiversità si può scoprire solo quando se ne è all’interno.La collezione principale riguarda la specie Ficus Carica, con oltre 250 accessioni. L’impianto parte dai caprifichi, prosegue con le varietà storiche italiane dipinte da Bartolomeo Bimbi per il granduca Cosimo III di Toscana a cavallo tra il ‘600 e il ‘700, quelle fatte ritrarre da Giorgio Gallesio nelle magnifiche tavole della sua Pomona Italiana (1817-1839), le cultivar largamente diffuse su tutto il territorio nazionale, le varietà locali di varie regioni italiane, le varietà pugliesi e dell’Italia del sud, le varietà internazionali (tra cui una trentina di varietà francesi di buon pregio).

The Dentice of Frasso Castle is a wonderful example of the Middle Age architecture in the Puglia Region, South Italy. It was build under the Normans and then it was enlarged during the XV century. It was an elegant noble residence untill 1961.You can't miss its charm and mystery. Come to visit its towers, terrace and gardens!
