This stretch of coastline has often been described as the most beautiful in the entire Mediterranean. One afther another, green and rocky mountainsp lunge dramatically into the mediterranean blue sea. The famouse Amalfi Coast road clings to the mountainsides revealing a succession of picturebook wiews each seemingly more stunning than the one before. Not so many years ago much of this coast was only accessible by boat. Now it is a fashionable resort area which retains the charm of past times.

"We tried several times to get to the start of this walk and had to wait a few days for the right weather conditions. Luckily on our 3rd attempt we were successful. We caught the local bus from Amalfi to the start at the top of the mountain and then spent an amazing 3 hours walking along the crest of..." the mountains towards Positano. The vistas along the way were breathtaking. We met quite a few people both locals and tourists - everyone was friendly and just enjoying the amazing location.
It is quite a strenuous walk, especially the 1,000 stairs down to Positano at the finish. There are a couple of water fountains along the way where you can fill up your water bottles but take some water with you. This is a must do if you are fit and have the time.

"We have walked this trail many times and it hasn't lost any of the thrills and fantastic views.
First time over 7 years ago we made the mistake of walking from Positano to Bomerano. Never again. Always get to Bomerano and walk down to Nocelle and Positano. Take a picnic all the ingredients are avai..."lable in Bomerano. Real Italian food at local prices.
To pick up on some of the low marking reviews;
There are handrails for most of the walk and the path is in very good condition.
The local authority have worked hard to provide hand rails, picnic tables and netted the high cliffs so you are much safer from rock falls.
There is a higher path which is the original Sentiero degli dei. When you reach Colle Serra facing the stone wall turn right up the track marked with the red and white CAI lines. This takes you above the Tourist track for even better views. There are no hand rails and stout footwear is recommended. See the Sunflower Book of Sorrento.Amalfi.Capri for more details of this ...
