"You can grab a bus to the monastery from katapola. Its quite a climb up the steps to the monastery so its advisable to have good footwear, I wore flip flops which though I made it up the steps I would have been more comfortable in shoes or sandals with straps. The views at the entrance was already a..."mazing but as you climb up the steps, you have a hard time deciding where to look, out to the sparkling sea, the imposing monument ahead carved out of the cliff or the steps you are walking on, or the cliff wall you are walking up against.

"Very calm and peaceful. I loved exploring the many narrow streets, looking at shops and eating & drinking in the tavernas in the centre of Hora.I particularly liked the taverna which has yellow chairs in one of the squares filled with red geramiums. Try the orange and lemon cakes. Climb up to the Ve..."netian Fortress, watch the sunset from the windmills with panoramic views of Chora from there.

"I enjoyed walking to the monastery and back from Chora. You could also drive there but bear in mind that there are many steps leading from the car park, and more steps inside the monastery as it is in 3 different levels. Women have to wear a dress or skirt and top with sleeves (at the entrance they ..."provide some skirts and tops that you could wear over your clothes).
When you visit, you are served a sweet, coffee, water and a small glass of sweet wine.
