The name "Olhos d’Água" is derived from various underwater freshwater springs that flow into the sea, along the beach, the sand and rocks. Only visible when it is low tide.These famous "olheiros" gave the town its name. A phenomenon of rare beauty and a major tourist attraction. Here settled Phoenicians, Carthaginians, and Romans, who practiced fishing and developed salting and drying of fish.
