"Having visited many cathedrals and churches throughout the world, and had few expectations. How wrong could I be?!!!
The Basilica is magnificent from a distance, and I was surprised that there was no entry fee. Once inside the frescos and art could be overwhelming, however the use of colour and..." byzantine ornamentation somehow makes it work. Down stairs one can access the cloisters at the back, then the lower basilica, and then the crypt another floor down.
I shall certainly be returning in the next few weeks, and do some research and invest int he audio guide.

"For many years running, we have been spending some of our summers in Umbria, in our favourite town in Spello. Over time, we have come to know Anne of Anne's Italy and we have shared many experiences with her including the cathedrals of Assisi, lunch in Spello, a Perugia tour and the Bevagna festival...". She has always shared her passion and enthusiasm for all things Italian with us (a true Italophile). She is highly informative, entertaining and definitely knows about many things surrounding Umbria and Italy, especially events and festivals which are perhaps off the beaten track. She willing shares the wealth of information which she has accumulated over her many decades of living outside of Assisi. Not only an attentive guide, she tailors each individual tour to the needs of the people in her groups, especially children (as she was a former teacher). We can highly recommend her for a personal introduction to Umbria.

"Anne Robichaud is a wonderful and knowledgable tour guide. I recently celebrated my 60th birthday with 22 of my friends in Assisi for a week. Anne is a college friend of one of my dear friends who was on the trip. Half my crowd were Santa Clara University graduates and so is Anne. So for her it..." was like being with a group of her own buddies. Anne toured us through Assisi, Perugia, Deruta, and Stella. Each event was different from the others and my friends were delighted at all they experienced and saw. As a long time resident of Assisi, Anne knows the best restaurants (which are typically where the locals go), the best places to shop, and the nicest local people. The trip was magical thanks to Anne.
