Esker Hills, Tullamore, Co. Offaly is regarded as one of Ireland's leading inland golf courses. It is a challenging championship golf course where no two holes are remotely alike. The property on Kilbride Street, known today as Hugh Lynch’s, has been operating as a public house since the early 1800’s. In the early 1900’s it was bought by the Williams Group, founders of the D.E. Williams Distillery, and run as a public bar and grocery, along with many other outlets in the Irish Midlands, from which they sold their growing whiskey brand “Tullamore Dew”.Hugh and Mary Teresa Lynch took over the pub in the 1960’s and the front bar remains largely unchanged ever since. The Premises went through a major renovation in 2008 adding a stylish new Bar downstairs and a function room upstairs. It is ideal for a private party and is also used for the live gigs. In 2010 an additional party room “ROUND” in the adjoining premises. The Pub stocks over 50 Irish whiskeys, each one tagged with a short description. The staff will be more than happy for you to examine the bottles before choosing which one you want to taste, or alternatively you can opt for one of the Tasting packages on offer.Hugh Lynch’s attracts a mix of older and younger clients. There is live music in the lounge every Thursday during the Summer Months, a band every Friday and on a Saturday night a local DJ plays a mix of chart music and old favourites to a lively crowd. It has won many awards over the last few years and it’s a great place to call into for a friendly chat and good whiskey during a visit to Tullamore.

Charleville castle is a building which has been rescued from near ruin by volunteers and a voluntary organisation - it has been described as Irelands leading historical architect, Francis Johston's masterpiece. It is maintained authentic and unchanged and we rotate volunteers to mind it 24 hours a day 365 days a year - but also to keep it open to the public. it is famous for its ghosts stories and unique architecture - but it is not a state-funded project and depends entirely on volunteers and supporters - so many people, thousands, have expressed their love of the building and support - we hope you will get a real feeling of what it is to keep a castle like this alive when you visit - see you here!

"A potentially lost treasure of the all too rapidly vanishing Ireland of old is gradually and lovingly being restored to its former grandeur by it owner, Bonnie Vance, and the head of the Charleville Trust, Dudley Stewart, aided by a small group of dedicated volunteers. An incredible example of over..."-the-top Regency era flamboyance, the castle, to which William Morris, Lord Byron and Percy Shelley all made architectural contributions, Charleville Castle is amazingly unique. The extravagent plasterwork in the Ballroom alone makes the castle well worth a visit. Add to this several beautifully restored and furnished rooms, an extremely rare "flying" staircase and numerous ghost stories and Charleville Castle offers something for every taste!

Well worth the money."
"Our golf society played this course recently. We found that the course was very well maintained and we all enjoyed ourselves.
The clubhouse and course were very busy on the day, which is proof of the high esteem this course is held in."
