"I went for a walk in Portsmouth one early evening before sunset, and came upon the Indian River Bar & Grill. That was fun it itself, but as I learned, this was the spot to begin the canoe paddle up the Indian River. While I enjoyed a local Rum, I chatted with the Ranger, and then made plans to par..."take in the paddle the next morning.
I choose Cobra Tours after chatting with the owner. Very knowledgeable, very professional, very detailed,(all the qualities I like) and I could tell he was serious about his business! This would make for a very good tour of the river! I was not disappointed. Even though it rained, and I was the only person there for the 7am run, Cobra carried on like a true professional. Informing me about the different trees, birds, plants, fruits, and throwing in some jokes along the way.
Next time I visit I will certainly look up Cobra Tours and join in on all the other tours they offer.

"On my first day in Portsmouth, Teddy from the Abyss took me here. I learned that Fort Shirley had been the headquarters and main defence post of the British army garrison at the Cabrits on the north-west coast of Dominica. Construction had begun in 1774. In 2006, a major restoration project was do..."ne and they have done a beautiful job. I understand that the Fort is functional for large parties. What fun!
The Cabrits is walking distance from where I stayed at The Abyss. The view from the Fort overlooks the ocean, into Portsmouth. It was very nice walking around the Fort.

"If you are looking for a Turkish Bath effect in a natural, open-air tropical environment then this comes very close to it.
A series of hot, swimming pool size pools with one cold pool in the tropical forest environment of Wotten Waven : a small interior village just 4 miles inland from the capit..."al city of Roseau: a mere 12-15 minute drive away.
There is a bar, local tea is also available . Most days there is a good restaurant within the compound serving good , menus and local juices.
This spot is closed on Mondays. Open usually from 10.00 am to 10.00 pm
A sensual and relaxing experience .
