  "We stumbled on to this cave quite by accident while looking for a place to camp for the night. Coming from Bryce Canyon into Nevada on Hwy 50 and there's not a lot of other places to stop so we turned into The Great Basin National Park and found Lehman Cave as well. The cave is small compared to a..." lot of caves but it is chock full of awesome formations and some very unusual ones at that. You have to sign up for a tour to go into the cave - no other way is allowed. They have a couple of tours a day and they're about 90 minutes each. The ranger that led ours - Ranger Steve - was knowledgeable, interesting and funny. They only allow a maximum of 20 people per tour so it's not too crowded. There are a lot of very narrow places and very low clearances that you have to walk thru so if you're very overweight or not comfortable with enclosed spaces be warned.   "The 90 minute tour cover 6/10th of a miles but is a lot to see. Rangers are very friendly and provide a lot of information "

  "Could have been great"
  "We drove up the winding road up to Wheeler Peak to try one of the hikes up there. Unfortunately for us there was still about 1' - 2' of snow on the trails. If we'd have had our snowshoes it would have been great but as we didn't we had to turn back after about 500' or so. Still ... beautiful ... ..."I'd like to go back in the summer! " More >
