"The Monastic settlement was interesting but we enjoyed walking around the area even more. The walks are easy and well worth it the upper lake has some amazing views."
"I have been here twice from USA and I cannot wait to go back. There is so much history and you can walk and walk and never get enough! The settlements area are amazing and I took plenty of pictures to look at and still take my mind back there. The trail was great for a brisk walk and see interest..."ing scenery. It was exciting and peaceful at the same time. This is a must see when you visit Ireland.

"THIS it the place to visit when going through the Wicklow Mountains! The site houses one of the earliest Christian Monastic Settlements in Ireland (and perhaps, Europe). There is a conical tower on site where the monks would retreat to if threatened, pulling their ladder behind them leaving the do..."or more than 10 feet above ground level. There is also a VERY old graveyard with fairly new burials. The Chapel is in ruins, but accessible. The site has a few vendors selling sweaters and other tokens. There is a nice restaurant with bathroom facilities. NO entrance fee --- just walk through the rare double arched entryway and wander around. I would definitely recommend this, especially to history buffs. Young children may not be so eager --- but there is room for them to stretch their legs. Don't miss this serene, historic place.
