Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The day starts with an early morning wake-up call by Gibbons. You can watch them having breakfast together with many hornbills flying in to the big fig tree next to the chalet. And you can frequently spot red-leaf monkeys and their white morph. However, it gets even more exciting at night. Frogs, spiders, lizards and weirdest insect morphologies are waiting at a density of 1 -5 species within a few mintues making a 1 -2 hour walk a pretty good idea about the exceptional biodiversity at THP. All this is guided, spotted and explained by two experts in this field, Shavez and Chun. A must for all who want to see and learn more. Again I am most greatful to Tom from Adventure Alternative Borneo for arranging this.

Thanks to Tom and the AAB (Adventure Alternative Borneo) team, the Maliau Basin Trek was an experience of a lifetime ! Our guides Don and Chun made the experience extra special - they were so knowledgable and so lovely ! And the facilties were simple but comfortable - the cooks at each camp served us the most wholesome and delicious food. I was so worried about my fitness before the trek but with average fitness and despite the humid conditions, every day was full of wonder and amazement!

And Maliau Basin, pristine and protected, is simply a magical place. I don’t think our brains and eyes can conceive of the extent of biodiversity that one experiences in such a place! Every step you take, between tree roots and carpets of leaves, a zillion living organisms buzz and hum and just be. Frogs of a myriad colours and hues and some that sounded like birds, orchids hiding their grace amidst ferns and mosses of infinite kinds, cicadas that filled the forest with haunting sounds, fungi that infected giant forest ants and made them into “zombie ants” that did their bidding, climbed up and died at the edge of a leaf so that the fungus could disperse its spores, worms that secreted gastric juices to dissolve and consume a moth 3 times bigger than itself! And hundreds and hundreds of pitcher plants patiently waiting for their prey! Highly reccomend the full trek - you won't regret it !

We went there with 1stopborneo wildlife. This forest started to be replanted in 1998, but it is a great place to do wildlife watching. We saw some Hornbills, a deer, lots of civets, a porcupine, a leopard cat…
I would recommend this place, the lodge is amazing, we were alone in the middle of the jungle and the staff was super nice and helpful.
The only downside are the roads that are not maintained making the rides bumpy.

It's a nice museum. The tour consists of a movie screening, followed by a tour of the cocoa processing facilities, and lastly a food and drink tasting session. Tip: Get your hotel concierge to call ahead and let them know you're coming; you can walk in but you'll have to wait about 15 minutes for the guide to come in from somewhere else.

There is nothing much to see except for the hot spring. Only a handful of visitors at the time of visit. I would suggest that you skip this place, unless you want to get a soak in the hotspring.

The best dried seafood price in Malaysia. You have to bargain though. The shop could make a box for your shopping to post or if you want to bring home. A lot of batik dress and tshirt on the 3rd floor. Photo shown, one of the best seafood price you could find there
