"We went to the Tsukiji Fish Market on a Monday and we were glad to have avoided the weekend. Even on a Monday, it was very busy. The market consists of an inner and outer section. The inner section closes by 11.00 am while the outer section remains open till mid afternoon if I am not mistaken. If yo..."u want to see the Tuna auction you'll have to get there by about 5.00 am to get on a guided tour.
As per the advise of our helpful concierge we were told to avoid rainy days and weekends and to get to the market a little after 9.00 am since we weren't interested in seeing the tuna auction. We had ample time to wander through the inner market before its close and explore the outer market after. We still managed to see some of the tunas being sold and packed in the inner wholesale market area.
There were a lot of sushi eateries outside and sampling one is somewhat of a must once you're there. I eat sushi and sashimi all the time and while it was good I wouldn't say I was blown away but ...
