My first tip would be carry and umbrella and dress warm, the weather changes very quickly. Very interesting look back in time. The buses and tour are very well organized, well executed and intriguing. Beware if you are uncomfortable in closed spaces because you make your way down a small path into the enclosed chamber. Beautiful vistas of natural green... More

Really cool. We used the Mary Gibbons tours and it was worth every penny. Easy to find and dropped up off by the college. More

The passage grave is a fascinating window into the burial practices of Neolithic times. The first thing to do is make sure that you don't drive directly to it (you must park ten minutes away at the Bru na Boinne centre and get on a coach - if not you will be sent packing). If you like to go at... More

One of the highlights of my trip to Ireland. It's more than just an awe-inspiring neolithic site. The wide open, panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and Hill of Tara are breathtaking and offer a rare perspective. If you have an extra hour, opt for tour that includes both Newgrange and Knowth. (The site is actually a "collective" of smaller... More

My wife and I visited here recently and were greatly impressed to find out that such a significant historical site was located in Ireland. I was a pity the other sites Knowth and Dowth were not open, as they sounded very impressive also. Spaces are limited only 650 people allowed in per day, so get there early. Look out for... More

If you love history you have to go here. We loved touring Newgrange. Our guide was great she set the story up perfectly and then took us into the tomb. We were so impressed with the skill and ingenuity these ancient people used to create these centers of worship and burial. We went with a tour that was very good.... More

At first it was hard to find visitor center after GPS took us to the exact location. However, after finding the center we were in for a treat. With the international student card, we were able to enter at a great rate. The museum was very informative. Newgrange itself was spectacular. Inside was quite an experience. The view overlooking the... More

We tried to visit Newgrange but found that we were not very well informed on the whole process. We arrived at 330 and the ticket booth asked if we had our pre-paid ticket that could only be purchased at the other ticket booth 14km away. Yes, we probably could have avoided all of this if we had visited their website,... More

This is an artists' conception of what Newgrange might've looked like. The history is amazing and the views breathtaking. Invest in the World Heritage Site card - it will save you a ton of money. More

The best historic visitors centre we have visited and the best value. Only 9 euro for the three of us (one as a student). We looked around the fantastic visitor centre before walking across the bridge to the shuttle bus. The scenery was beautiful across the bridge and the staff friendly. Once we got off the 5 mins trip to... More
