Today, the Britannia Mine Museum opens up a little-seen world that fascinates all ages. Just like miners did, visitors climb aboard a mine train and rumble into an authentic tunnel. Entertaining guides describe the workings of drills and tools from the past century. Every visit includes gold panning with the chance to take home frequent findings. A captivating 15-minute film re-creates the past and reveals how families turned their isolated surroundings into pleasant experiences. The Family Play Area keeps young ones entertained. A glittering gift shop offers unique stones and carvings. To get there, head north on the Sea to Sky Highway. 1/2 way between Vancouver and Whistler. « less

Driven by this place so many times but hey, wait, something's different. They really updated it (not sure when) and now, I would highly recommend it as a great little place to take out of town guests, to stop in if you're a tourist, or for anyone who has lived in the Lower Mainland and never bothered to go, it's... Excellent must visit, historic site. Great staff, food and fun. Much history. Easy access, parking and views spectacular. Don't miss this on your way to Whistler, or on your return from Whistler.

Visited the Mine Museum with my Daughter (in her early 20's). Very impressed with the content of the museum and definitely recommend watching the film by the entrance as it explains a great deal and the presenter is very informative and very funny. take a trip into the mine - our guide was also very good, and experience how the... I just visited the Museum with my husband and some friends, and we absolutely loved our experience! We have lived in the Sea to Sky Corridor for about 10 years and have passed the museum numerous times and always wondered! Well, it is definitely worth the visit, I had no idea that there were so many things to do there!... More

I was pleasantly surprised by the tour and activities at the Britannia Mine Museum. I had my three girls (4-11) for a day off on a trip to Whistler and decided to give the museum a try -- I am glad we did. They loved it. The introduction was well tailored and informative, the tour was engaging and was filled... More

I found the tour to be very informative. The tour is done in the cars of the mine actually going where the miners went. Its a bit spooky seeing the way times used to be back in the day.

It was great learning and experience with my kids, 8yrs and 10yrs old. they both liked it very much. The short guided tour will take you on a mine train through the tunnel and walk short distance back. we visited during Summer, but it was cool inside. There is a demonstration of air driven drill and it was LOUD! After... More

We stopped off at this museum while driving from Vancouver to Whistler to take a break from the drive. We had spotted this in the guide book and thought it might be worth a look. It definitely was! I work in construction, so the girls i was travelling with put up with taking pictures of me in front of the... More

the museum and mine tour were really informative, we enjoyed the mine tour the most. Do call before you go, as the mine tour hours posted on the website were inaccurate. While there isn't much else to do in Britannia, the drive there is quite scenic.

The Britannia Mine Museum includes several very interesting exhibits, but the two highlights are the underground tour, and the mill building, which is truly breathtaking - huge, grand, and a little spooky. We visited with a grouchy small child on a very rainy day, so we skipped most of the exhibits and headed straight for the tour (these are scheduled,... More
