First, we did see a variety of wildlife, sloths, vipers, foxes, and quite a few arachnids and insects. That said... we were in a group of 8 people, and of that, half were extremely noisy, giggling, yelling, stomping thorugh the brush. I can pass that off as a hazard of going on any group tour with people you don't know.... More

This walk was the nuts. We saw snakes, scorpions, tarantulas, funnel web spiders, and a heap of mammals including a grey fox, sloth, agouti etc. Our guide was great.

I have been on other night hikes and the secret to seeing stuff is to have quiet. There had to be 50 people stomping around the woods. The only excitement came when our guide tried to scare an animal out of the woods. There is a turantula that nests right at the exit (by the welcome booth). Save yourself some... More

These night tours are very popular. You end up with 7-8 people per guide, which is ok. But there are a lot of guides and groups, so you do not feel alone in the forest. The guide we had was knowledgable, but as curious nature explorers, there was little to see that we did not see before or during daytime.... More

We had a good time on this night walk. Yes, there were a lot of folks walking around in the rain (& wind), but the guides did their best to keep us separated, even making us "take turns" in viewing the most exciting find of the night - a sloth with a baby!! We also saw a flurry of bats,... More

Felt a bit hokey with a large number of folks walking around in a small area. We saw tarantulas, scorpions, a sleeping wren and some other species, but it was a bit underwhelming.

We really enjoyed the Hidden Valley night walk and out guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining. Seeing and hearing the rain forest at night gives you a different perspective and we thought it was well worth our time to take this excursion. We saw a coati and a mother sloth with a baby, a couple of tarantulas, a few... More

This was my first night tour and while because of the rain, we did not get to see as many creatures, our tour guide was very knowledgeable, describing ficus trees (strangler fig) where we were able to walk inside a tree with its inside hollow, as well as we saw a few coatis, a sloth, some insects and sleeping birds.... I want to start by saying that our guide was awesome! She was very interested in our kids seeing as much as they could! She was genuinely interested in the wildlife and seemed to love what she did. My son left wanting to move to Costa Rica to be a guide like her. That being said, you could hear other... More

Our guide Lissette was excellent. she put in a lot of extra effort to show us the two toed sloth after it awakened before sunset. she also gave great explanations of all the flora and fauna we saw. the trails at hidden valley really lend themselves to night hiking as there arent many steps and the trails are well maintained...
