Impressive entrance to stunning caves. The glow worms were numerous and the boat trip a lovely way to enjoy them. Caves were beautiful and the whole tour with guide really suitable for kids too. We used discount vouchers so made the normal high entry price much better value. Go see with whole family :)

A relative short tour, with an amazing amount of facts and views of these amazing structures. The first part of the walk takes you into the cathedral with amazing acoustics and sights, then a short boat ride to see the glow worms. This was my first visit of a cave where I could gaze upon stalagmite and stalactite formations. This alone was amazing considering the geological time it took to create such rock buildups formed by minerals precipitating out of the water solution. Added to this was the glow worms themselves. If you only have time for one glow worm experience, a tour through the Waitomo Glow Worm Caves is not to be missed. This was the last of our caves and definately a highlight, travelling on the boat underneath a night sky of glowworms was a magical experience. Definately recommend this one and Ruakuri cave.
