It was an amazing day underwater. My wife and I are snorkelers and divers so we were amazed at how many people were stepping on and slowly killing the coral. Everyone who enters has to watch a 20min video on the preservation and treatment of the coral and it seemed as if no one cared. I truly feel they need...

Loved, loved, loved my day at the simply stunning Hanauma Bay. Public bus from Waikiki is only $2.50, $7.50 entry to the bay and then $12 to hire snorkel/mask/flippers set of you haven't brought them with you. Take some food and drinks with you (otherwise it's an uphill walk or paid shuttle ride up to the top to get anything)...

Hanauma Bay is a hidden little gem tucked into a hillside in Oahu. We went there for an afternoon of sun, snorkeling and beach-time. It wasn't overly crowded on the day we went so it was very enjoyable. We had a great time snorkeling, and we did see a lot. The coral reef was beautiful and what we did see...

Took the family to Hanauma Bay in Feb. Great place for snorkeling. Good sandy beach for the younger kids to play. $7.50/adult and free for kids under 12. We were told that if you arrive before 7am admission if free, and the water tends to be calmer in the morning. Great destination!

We saw lots of amazing fish and 3 sea turtles. It was a great day. The facilities are clean, the beach is nice, and the sea life in incredible. We highly recommend this as a fun day out. (We did not see any eels - even though they show it on the video... we thought that was good.)

A short bus ride from Waikiki is beautiful Hanama Bay a wonderful day trip. This bay is actually a flooded volcanic crater. It is very sheltered and has extensive coral reefs that are home to hundreds of different kinds of sealife. I was lucky enough to encounter a turtle while snorkeling. Snorkel equipment can be rented there. A short video...

Touted as one of the best snorkeling spots, but is marginal. $7.50 per person entry fee, and $1.75 for the tram up and down the somewhat steep trail. Saw nearly as many fish on the regular beaches.

Sat thru the info center film 3 times and didn't mind it a bit. Renting snorkel equip on the beach was much preferable to the equip provided on tour buses. Go early, the sand is not so sloshed about and you can snorkel out quite far and see amazing creatures. My husband who is not a swimmer/snorkeler insisted on returning...
