The state capitol is definitely worth a visit. We did not take the guided tour but were given a map of the building so we could look around at our leisure. We really enjoyed seeing the building itself and the wonderful artwork. Very interesting!

A beautiful building with loads of local art on the walls. And it's interesting to see where laws are made.

My husband and I have visited many state capitol buildings and the Roundhouse is by far the most interesting. This is a must see sight for our visitors and we visit yearly ourselves. The symbol of the Zia Peublo adorns the state flag and is the basis for the buidling's design. It is truly a marvel. Award winning art work... More

This is actually a fabulous art gallery of wonderful western art. A map is free and the personnel working there are very helpful and informative. The architecture is a beautiful reflection of the native style.

Not only is this building architecturally interesting but the artwork inside is amazing. You walk around the hallways in circles (you can't get lost) and see the most amazing works for free.

This is an unexpected find - more artwork and more variety than in many museums. We liked the easy pace of wandering the halls and admiring so many different pieces. The temporary quilt exhibit was stunning - and I'm not even that interested in quilts! The whole setting is lovely and I would rate it among the top five "must... More

This building was dedicated in 1966, so it's thoroughly modern by comparison to most other capitols. The building is filled with a collection of more than $6 million worth of art, mostly reflective of the Southwest. We walked in and immediately saw an amazing display of quilts from local artists depicting the Southwest. This is worth seeing if you can... More

We went to the State Capitol in Santa Fe to see the artwork and were very pleased with the show. The work is displayed on three floors of the modern, attractive building. The collection includes many pieces of excellent art. The information desk provides a brochure to help you find your way around. While we were there a special show... More

What perhaps is the very best place to see the work of New Mexico artists is the capital. The halls of every floor are filled with this work and some of the best. Find the information desk at one of the enterances and ask for a tour. A guide will be provided at no charge. An example of good government.
