A very nice botanical garden. Great variety of plants spread over a large landscape. Nice water features and even a Japanese garden. Truly a wonderful refuge from the daily grind

This was one of the highlights of our trip. We came at a wonderful time and the colors were fantastic. Gardens are well laid out to allow for easy stroll around. Plenty of shade when needed. Great variety.
This was a wonderful ending to our San Antonio trip! It was a bit hard to find since the map I used did not specify that Braunfels Ave did not cut through fort Sam Houston! Then it did not show the gardens being right on Funston St! It looked like a dead end, but that leads into their parking lot!...

This was a very pleasant surprise! Such a wonderful place with a lot of very beautiful flowers. The landscaping and scenery was very pleasant. For a wannabe photographer like me, this was paradise to take photos of flowers and lots more. We went around midday which was a mistake. Maybe better early morning or late afternoon...

We had planned to “pop into” the Botanical Gardens for a short visit, but were surprised to find how large and extensive they were. We happily ended up spending a few hours there, and look forward to returning some day for a more leisurely visit.
There are a few large glass greenhouse structures that house palms, desert, and rainforest areas....

This spot in San Antonio is a nice stop after going through the hustle and bustle of the city. It is a bit expensive, ask for military or retired/disabled veteran discounts. They have a restaurant there and is ok. Bring your tennis shoes though it requires a good amount of walking. There are some great exhibits of flowers/plants/trees that you...

The San Antonio Botanical Gardens are situated around a hill (the tallest in the inner city area) near Ft. Sam Houston and Brackenridge Park. All year you'll find beautiful flowers and plantings, interesting programs (like the summer's Gardens by Moonlight) and xeroscape ideas for your own yard in this drought prone area!
There are areas devoted to the native plants...

If you like flowers and strolling, you'll love a trip to the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. I love this place and bought a seasonal pass so that I could go several times a year.
There's always something new to see and as a photographer, there's usually something interesting to shoot. Some of my favorite photographs have come from this garden....

I really liked the place, it took me to a different period of time with the wooden houses and some old pictures for locals whom were in that place before, I liked the colors of plants.
The gardens are in desperate need of cleaning out yet, not to mention non-existent grooming. The conservatory was ok, but also is screaming for grooming and TLC. Private organizations sponsor special areas such as roses and herbs. Both of these areas are not showing a good advertisement for their organization.
City of San Antonio surely we can do a lot...
