When ever on the Eastside of Providence, always like to stop on Thayer for lunch or tea. Eastside Pocket is the best! Interesting people watching, too!

My family love Thayer Street. Especially Mikes Pastries, and many of the coffee shops. Awesome little community.
This is in the student quarter and is about as lively as Providence gets. A reasonable range of independent shops but nothing special. Unless you were visiting someone at Brown, there really would be no reason to come here, especially as it involves a steep, uphill climb!
Went to visit Brown University with our son. Stopped by Thayer Street first. Its about 5 or 6 blocks long filled with tons of fast food places to eat. Theres a Chipotle, tons of burrito places, pizza place, yogurt place, sushi place... Cute little area to come to for a quick bite - great for college students!! A couple of...

First off, don't let parking on Thayer intimidate you, there are plenty of streets and you just have to be patient if you cannot find a spot right away. If you are willing to walk an extra block or two there are plenty of residential streets just past Thayer area that have parking available.
There are plenty of places to...

Clothing, Brown Bookstore, lots of places to eat - all kinds of food, safe, and it's very enjoyable to walk around the neighborhoods in the area - beautiful, grand Victorian homes. Kabob and Curry is great if you like Indian Food. Wonderful shops to holiday shop at (stocking stuffers, etc.)
Lots of delicious restaurants and fun little shops. Parking looks like it could be problematic but I've never had a problem lucking out and finding a meter.
I like Thayer Street. Yes, parking is a drag around College Hill (which includes Thayer). But come earlier in the day when most students are still in bed :-) or in the summer which is far less congested (but still can get busy). During the busy times, I usually have better luck on the end near the post office/Bowen St....

Parking is hit or miss, typical for the city. Nice to take a walk up and down this street and visit the shops, catch an artsy movie, people watch, have a drink or a bite to eat. Being a college area (Brown, RISD), businesses cater to the students, so the prices are inexpensive. Many ethnic shops and restaurants so you...

Thayer Street is hugely popular with the local college kids, and for good reason. This street is lined with unique shops and lots of fabulous cafes and restaurants. It is also fun for people watching. You could easily spend the good part of a day here browsing and eating. The only downside is parking. It is tough to find parking...
