This preserved/restored house, fully furnished and, with the outbuildings, accessible, is part of the Natchez National Historical Park. Our ranger guide was knowledgeable, articulate, and friendly, and kept our interest during the tour of the main house. .

We arrived and hour before tour schedule (they only your certain times so check this at their website) but we walked around grounds and looked at all the buildings which took up the hour. The house was under going repair but did not take away too much scenery of the home. Our tour guide was awesome. She knew so much... More

We arrived here around noon, which was 2 hours before the next house tour was due to begin, so we just walked the grounds. The home looked as though it could really be something special if the park service ever gets enough money to work on the grounds and the house. The paint was completely stripped off the house and... We stopped to walk the grounds but decided to tour the house -- good decision! The National Park Service guide gave an excellent, informative tour. The house is well-preserved with beautiful furnishings. Non-flash photography is allowed; I couldn't resist taking photos of the lovely rooms. This tour is certainly worth the price of admission.

Loved this tour as it was given by a National Park Guide. Very interesting and worth your time. They are doing renovations but it does not affect the inside of the house which is lovely.

This is a nice area home where you can stroll the grounds to understand the layout of a home in the area. We especially liked seeing and reading about the slave cabins and the way the slaves on this homestead lived

We visited Melrose House in October 2012. The mansion is furnished with original items. Barney was our guide and was outstanding in telling the story of the original family and life on the plantation. This tour is not to be missed. Plan on about 1 1/2 hours. The Golden Eagle card is not valid here, but the fee is nominal.

Melrose is operated by the National Parks Service, so there's no question about the quality of the interpretation here; no admission is charged to enjoy the grounds, but I strongly suggest the nominal fee charged to see the interior of this unforgettable house. Among the furnishings that set this apart are the original floor cloth that is a National Treasure... More

Excellent interpretive program, Exterior of the building currently being rehabilitated. A visit here is inexpensive if you have the federal senior pass.
