If you don't like a lot of stairs the end of the trail will not be for you (stone stairs). The beginning of the walk is basically a trail and then steps (5 or so at a time then a platform). There are benches at each stop and it is shaded which will be helpful in the heat of summer.... More

As many other reviewers have said, if you're at Mt Rushmore you have to do the Presidential Trail. It's about a mile or so long, the stairs at the end do leave you a bit winded (there are about 75-85 altogether at the very end) but the views are SO worth it! You come incredibly close to the mountain, there... More

The walk is not nearly as long as it would appear, yet it seems to get you so much closer. It is also fully accessible!

Once you're at Mount Rushmore, you should take the Presidential Trail walk. They have guided hikes in the summer too. The trail is only a half mile. There are 150 or so stairs. The trail takes you as close to the faces as you can get and it takes you down to the historic Sculptor's Studio where there's the original... More

If you visit Mount Rushmore, you have to go on this trail. There are two routes. One is short and easy, and the other is longer and more difficult, as it has more stairs. Both routes are great because they take you closer to the mountain and give you unbelievable views as well as extra history lessons!

The trial was a nice walk (a little winded at the end climbing the stairs). Beautiful sights along the way.

Kids loved it, and it really did not take very long. Make sure you keep your eyes open for wildlife.

It may be a false impression created by the movie “North by Northwest” in which Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint are seen dangling from the faces of Mount Rushmore, but I thought there was a way up the Memorial. There isn’t. The closest approach to Mount Rushmore is on the Presidential Trail which takes you to a wooden platform... More

I was negative on a previous review and went back to the area and went on the trail this time. World of difference in the view. It's a light hike and well worth the time considering the pictures you can get. I still don't like the parking fee at the attraction, but the parking area is decent and worth the... More

We were lucky the day we got there the trail was open as day before it was closed due to ice on the wooden board walk and steps. We started on the left side with our walking tour hand held device which is only $5 to hire at the book store(felt sorry for the poor guy that has to explain... More
