We were made to feel like unwelcome intruders for showing up with kids. Maymont was better, offered much more grounds to explore.

Free, in downtown Richmond, tour of 6 people, you feel like you traveled over the Atlantic to England in the 1600s, plus beautiful gardens. A history tour and magnificent house.
We stopped by Agecroft during a trip to Virginia for Historic Garden Week. Although it was not part of the week's featured homes, we read about the interesting story of how it was shipped over from England in the 1920's - sounded like a must-see! It's a wonderful house, friendly and very helpful staff. Jane, our guide, was so knowledgable,...

Our guide was a wealth of information and really made the tour. Very interesting. The movie was helpful putting everything in perspective.
Located in a beautiful neighborhood that is worth walking around. House has very interesting history and is impressive to see. Guides were very welcoming and did not push a tour. Costs a few dollars to enjoy the gardens and walk around the grounds, which we felt was worthwhile. Plenty of parking available.

A Richmond treasure. The tours are fantastic and the staff is wonderful. If you like history, you will LOVE Agecroft. Once a private residence, this museum is consistantly updating the property to add new things. The property sits on the James River and I recommend you take a short walk down to the back of the property for a wonderful...

You'll love it. A gracious home and spectacular gardens. Best seen in the Spring when the garden is coming into bloom.

As she entered, she saw a knight or armor and there was a room with things where the kids could act as...

The fact that the house was disassembled in England and reassembled in VA is impressive. Though it's not the entire house, a lot of the original house was in decay. The history you get on the house is when it was in Lancashire, England in the late 15th Century and that's how it is set up. They should make this...
