If the weather permits being outside, City Park is a great place to visit. We enjoyed both the Sculpture Garden and the Botanical Garden. We had a car. I am not sure how easy it is to get to without one.

As the park has a limited staff and budget, we volunteered a few hours in the park. The park is a great place to spend the day and lots of options for the family - whether it is storyland amusement park, ball fields, putt putt, etc...there is something for everyone to do.
1,300 acres is a lot of park and don't think just grass and trees although there is plenty of both. A great little restaurant, a small train and amusement park, Museum of Art, Sculpture Garden, ... You won't be able to see it all in a day but that's OK because you'll want to come back.
Great park,so much to see..take a bike ride.we went to the park as part of a trip, wish we had more time because I would definitely go there.its twice the size of Central Park - you would need a full day to enjoy it.
Our tour driver stopped at City Park so that we could use the restrooms and get something to eat or drink. We were not there long enough to really get a feel for the park.
We we live in a rural mountain beautiful settin ourselves...so this lovely park was an oasis for us within the bustle of high energy NOLA! We loved it all. The trees enormous, majestic old trees dripping with moss, the squirrels, turtles and herons, lovely long walk. The park is generous with stone benches for resting your aching feet, which can...

This trip we did the Sculpture Garden and Botanical Gardens (they are right next to each other). The Sculpture Garden is free and very pleasant stroll with quite interesting sculptures.....and excellent presentation. The Botanical Garden is also nice....admission fee is $6....my wife really enjoyed it. Honestly, I can take or leave most botanical gardens.
We took the trolley to the park and toured the Botanical Gardens. It cost $6 per person and took us 2 1/2 hours, but was well worth it. We could have stayed longer. We ate lunch at the restaurant on the grounds. We had red beans and rice and the jambalaya. Bother were good.
Tour bus stopped here. Nice park, but don't eat in the restaurant. Baguettes were terrible. Cafe at latte was ok, but save your money.
A wonderful refuge from the hustle of New Orleans. City Park is home to the Art Museum and the wonderful Sculpture Garden.
