I've been in Madison for 20 years. State Street has always been a staple in visiting and in living on campus. Charming historical buildings-no cars getting in your way, nice little local restaurants and businesses. I think it is about to change. Soooo many stores, restaurants, shops and people! Go and take a look for yourself. There is something for everyone.

We were encouraged to go to State Street. It was okay but nothing I would think "wow". We went in and out of some shops. I guess if you are there and want something to do, you could take a stroll. Just plain tacky...some decent shops but not worth the hype. Think Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco.

We found State street great for eating, wandering and going to the Comedy club. There was not much shopping to do, although the stores there are very nice with lots of unique items. Great for walking.

A great people-watching street, full of all kinds of restaurants and stores. Connects the State Capitol with the University.

Anyone who goes to Madison must walk State Street! You will love the shopping, bars, resturants, & view.

It was called Himal Chuli ? Has a red Awning and it's on State St. Yummy Indian Food, Reasonably priced. Kids loved buzzing around State Street.
