If you can take a tour then you will be exposed to the rich history of this cementary. Even if there are no tours you can get a guidebook and do it on your own. Lots of walking but worth it. Really

Reading the monuments in this cemetery gives perspective on the lives of generations of New Yorkers. There are sculptures, poetry, and at times the many monuments seem to echo the skyline of the city in miniature.

Unfortunately, I've only been to the Green-Wood Cemetary for funerals. It's hauntingly beautiful. Quite elegant in places, gothic in others. Kept up very nicely. For anyone who enjoys a stroll around a cemetary, this is the place.

Having been to NYC almost a dozen times, we were looking for something new and found this amazing place! Not only is it beautiful, but the stories and views are entrancing. The people buried here, historic landmarks and new information were well worth the trolley ride narration. Highly recommended two hours!

We took the trolley tour last May. In addition to the great views of Manhattan, the tour provided us with a lot of historical facts and a a great overview of the cemetery. The cemetery is quite large so it is worth it to pay for the trolley tour.

One of our favorite places to visit. We love the tours and the trolley, the landscaping and beautiful setting. We even considered getting married in the gorgeous chapel. Wish it could accommodate more people. We even did the night time tour which was creepy and fascinating.
