An expert brought in a Great Gray Owl and little Saw Whet Owl. She taught us some interesting facts about owls. Then walking through the area we saw Sandhill Cranes and they're young.
This abuts Creamers Field, so you can spend several hours going to both places. There are several areas to sit and bird watch or picnic. The paths around the ponds are well marked and have benches to sit along the way.
Lots of walkers the day we were there, trails are level & the people with strollers seemed to have...

We liked the Creamer's wildlfe area and the Wedgewood wildlife area which abut the Observatory. What they do have is feeders for the birds so we enjoyed watching some birds at the side of the building which appears to us to be a small expensive shop and some offices(and a loo). Nice facility on the edge of Creamer's Field refuge. A few exhibits and a nice gift shop with bird related items. They offer banding demonstrations at the Creamer's Field Bird Banding Station during the summer. Evening bird themed lectures and First Firday Art shows during the fall and winter

The Sandhills Cranes were migrating while we were here. It was phenomenal to see all the migratory birds settling and flying south
Did the observatory trails in very late August. Beautifully built trails and well maintained. When we visited there were a lot of tour people using the trails. We did not witness any wildlife on the pond but were told often there are a lot of waterfowl there. May have been the time of year? The down side to the trails...
