First, I have to say that at $40 per person, you should be allowed to stay longer at the actual gold dredge site. Since there are hundreds of people there and the lines to get your gold weighed and/or turned into a necklace were super long. When the train arrived at the dredge, they didn't inform us of how long... More

We were skeptical, but this is so well done, and so interesting and informative, that we were all won over by the enjoyment of seeing the Dredge and then panning for gold. Hugely enjoyable!!! The only caveat was waiting forever in the shop area, but even that was interesting and accompanied by fresh -- hot out of the oven! --... More

My sister, daughter and I took my two grandchildren to "pan for gold". The train ride and the entertainment was great as well as the narrator of the Dredge Site. It was very informative. We got to sit at a long table where we each were handed a pan and a small bag of dirt to learn how to pan... More

Visited with 2 kids (11 and 13) - everybody had alot of fun panning for gold. The tour begins with a short train ride to the dredge site. Along the way the train stops a few times to give information about gold digging and panning in "gold rush" Alaska. Once at the panning site, you are given a bag of... More

We had a good look at part of the Alaskan Pipeline and the mechanics that drive it. Then we boarded a replica of an old narrow gauge train and learned quite a bit about Alaska's gold industry on our way to the Dredge where we panned for gold. Everyone found some and there was lots of opportunity to purchase jewelry... More

We learned a lot about the Alaska pipe line and gold mining. We even got to do a little paning for gold. Between my wife and I, we found $28 worth of gold flakes. Fun! We road a train around the area which passed various mining techniques, which were all explained, and a huge gold mining dredge - a piece... More

This is located in an area that gives you a good idea of what gold miners experienced. The historical aspects of this tour were really interesting, but the panning for gold was "gimmicky" in my opinion, unless you really like swishing dirt around in a pan of water. And, of course, you will find some, and then you can go... More

This tour was included in our organized tour,. I was not looking forward to it, but was presently surprised. They show how an old gold mine works, you get to trp gold panning and keep anything you find

The uncomfortable benches were worth it! Panning for gold was fun & we learned a lot! A bonus was seeing and learning about the Alyesko pipeline. A good field trip!

Very informative and great fun to pan for gold. Guests are treated to cookies. Day we were there, 12 oz sodas from the vending machine were 50 cents. Staff friendly & helpful.
