We went in 2011 and it was a super hot day about 110 and so sunny it was untrue. Everything was open and it was a very enjoyable day out. Had some lovely ice cream and wen ton the train which was fun. Didn't watch the shows and wandered around looking in all of the little cabins and shops. It...

There are several good museums, putt-putt golf, two playgrounds, one and sometimes two trains, a number of shops and restaurants housed in historic old cabins and houses brought there after the '67 flood. These are arranged in streets in a fairly natural way. There is also an art gallery and theatre in the Civic Center (the building with large images...

Most of my Reviews have been mostly positive; but Pioneer Park was such a let down, quite a few log cabins retail outlets were closed and For Sale, this visit was not Winter but 21st July 2012. A lot more has to be offered to visitors if want their presence.
What a wonderful family park! While visiting our daughter and her husband, she recommended a trip over to this wonderful park. There is so much to do, and you can easily spend a whole day here. There is a wonderful carousel which the grandkids loved, a playground, the historic train ride around the park, lakes, old buildings to explore, a...

We went in winter, and so almost everything was closed. However, I could envision the cabins come to life with businesses operating. The colourful cabins were fun to look at and a great contrast against the white snow (photo-worthy).
An outdated, poorly maintained area. So sad. Everything needs to be rebuilt, cleaned, repainted, restored or just razed. Needs grass replanted or at least watered. Everything dilapidated. Train is the only thing they maintain. It's the only thing worth saving.
Visitors seem to enjoy Alaskaland--the old name for this. park. Kids love playground, put put gold, and THE TRAIN. Nothing special here, but does give you insight into old Fairbanks. Local crafters offer their wares--many nice things for gifts to take home. I love the Souvlaki and make it a point to go every summer for this.
My family and I love this park we go several times a year to go back into time. The train ride is short but it is fun to ride. The old timey carousel is nostalgic. They have many different attractions worth checking out the river boat, musuem, air musuem and all the little cabins with the history of each.
It was closed while we were there, but we were able to walk around and read the history on the buildings in the museum. They were beautiful with the fresh white snow also.
