In a historic house associated with the shipping business. Nice garden with paths in back of the house. Easy to miss even while walking by it, so be persistent. Has off street parking and a museum shop.

For a small admissions fee, the museum was impressive with many model ships displayed showing the history for the many different types of ships that were used.
i am interested in history and museums interest me, so this was so much fun for me and my family. there is lots to look at and lots to learn, i'd reccomend for families of all ages, and with many different interests.
Definately worth the fee. There were lots of miniture replicas of all kinds of ships (obviously). The building itself and the gardens were a bonus. This was one of my favorite stops downtown. We stayed about an hour.
Toured the museum and gardens as a wedding venue! SO gorgeous! Two different gardens could allow for either a small or large wedding. Absolutely breath taking and totally worth it!
Ever since my first trip to Savannah in March 2010, I've wanted to have a wedding in one of the squares. Wonderful way to pass a cloudy morning, wandering among the ship models and getting a history lesson along the way. The museum is just big enough to be interesting without wearing one out. The ship models are beatifully crafted, and large enough to allow for a great deal of detail. Stories about their associations with Savannah are clearly posted. Nice...

This museum is inside of a beautiful, old home that is amazing even without the nautical displays. The incredibly detailed model ships need plenty of time to properly appreciate. In addition to the history on the inside, the outside of the museum is worth allotting plenty of time--the gardens are lush, fragrant and very beautiful.
This is a sweet little museum. Doesn't take a lot of time but gives a good over view of Savannah's important place as a commercial and naval port.
The building is beautiful and the ship displays are fantastic. The gardens are restful and well maintained. Anyone interested in the sea and part of the history of Savanna will not be disappointed in the visit to the Maritime Museum.
