Came to town on a cruise ship, not sure what to do... One of the people up at the Astoria Column told us about this and we had to go, based on her enthusiasm. Started by watching a short historical video in the carriage house and then went on the self-guided tour of the house and grounds. Very interesting and... More

The Flavel house is nicely kept Queen Anne style Victorian Mansion (I use this term loosely, its just a big house) very pretty decorations and architecture. A bit like Pittock Mansion in Portland OR (if you've ever been). Tours are self guided and begin at the Carriage House a ways up from the house itself. Watch the 15m. video before... More

This museum is a beautiful walk through history. The Historical Society have done an incredible job in saving a big part of Astoria's history.

Very beuitiful old victorian home with beuitiful antique furniture as well! It was the first residence in Astoria to have running water inside! And the water use to be much closer to the house as well. When you arrive first go to the carriage house to buy tickets and watch the 20 min video on the history of the mansion,... More

What a wonderful sense of history and what a beautiful place! You can only imagine what it must have been like to live in what is a grand place today and must have seemed extraordinary when it was built! Go visit, take the tour, it's well worth it, especially if you love history!

A nice morning spent touring this beautiful mansion! Make sure you spend the time watching the short video in the carriage house, before you head into the self tour.

Great, walking through historic home! Probably not too interesting for small children though with all the antiques and breakables.

I especially liked the introductory video before touring the house. They have a very nice gift shop and I found a special treasure-a reproduction brass Victorian pin cushion and scissors holder. The house was staffed with a knowledgeable docent. Just loved it!

Gives you a great sense of how the 'upper crust' lived in Astoria. All original Victorian furnishings and lighting. Grounds well maintained. Only a few other people there when we were there so easy to take pictures. Must see if in Astoria.
