An absolute MUST is the guided tour with a licensed tour guide in the comfort of your own car. The tour guide drives you around the battlefield - a huge area six miles long and 4 miles wide - and takes you through the 3 day battle day by day from each area of the Battlefield where the fighting took... Great way to start your tour of the battlefield area. Must see the diarama (sorry not sure of the spelling) and the movie.

The National Park has free maps to drive, bike, walk to see the battlefields, but don't stop there! The museum is worth the $8 admission -- a great collection of history that comes alive as you see the battlefields, read the markers, and walk through the town with buildings standing with musketball markings.

Loved the cyclorama, although there wasn't enough time to see it all -- they hustle you out pretty quickly. Enjoyed the movie "The Birth of Freedom" -- even got a little teary-eyed listening to Morgan Freeman's narration! The museum -- which we almost missed, by the way. It's very dark looking with dark tinted windows -- and the only reason... More

A visit to Gettysburg is a must for any American who reveres our history. Truly hallowed ground since it preserved our union, allowing slavery to end and shined an unending light on several of our greatest American heroes and principles.

A gorgeous park, well maintained and full of history! Helped chaperone a group of 6th graders last week. The museum was lovely, and the Cyclorama was amazing!!! They've really made it "live" and the kids loved it. You could spend days driving slowly, or walking or biking. It's just so pretty. Even though I'd been there many times, this was... More
