Most of the shops are very touristy, but it's a good place to get beach toys and other things to occupy the kids. Don't miss the pottery shop, which carries works only by local artists. It's a real gem.

So, we thought this was going to be more than it is. There are a ton of restaurnats of all types, seafood, greek, sandwiches, etc. plus some tourist trap souvenir places. We were very disappointed. It is very pretty and nice to see the marina, but in all honesty, not at all worth the trek. Stay in the town of...

I visited Ventura Harbor Village in April this year.
My hubby and I are from Southern New Mexico, so it was
a nice change to the Desert feeling. We loved all the boats,
the nice flowers and the gardens around the shops and
restaurants. The beach is nearby and not cowded, what is
a big plus. I've booked Ventura for...

Lots to see here. Many restaurants and shops. Harbor tours, boat repair yard, seafood store where fish is straight off the boat. Bring the kids, lots to do with them. A very long sidewalk along the shore where you can enjoy the sights. Go across the street- and there is PRISTINE BEACH. Bring the dog too. I think you will...

and see. Bike, walk the trails, shop, eat, relax. Nice harbor with a long bike trail. A couple hotels here also.
To be honest, I was disappointed. The shops are pretty touristy, and most of them just sell the standard beach-related crap. You could be in any seaside town by the looks of them. There are a few pottery and photography galleries that have nicer stuff, but that's about it, except for the restaurants. The restaurants are a mixed bag, but...

Lovely place to walk with kids, nice views of marina, great restaurants, very clean and safe; fantastically close to beautiful beach.
Te harbor area is nice. It's not Monterey nice but there's no charge for parking which is nice since everything comes with a price in Ventura. Christy's Cafe was a great little place for breakfast.
This is a sleepy little village (if that's what you can call if) is a collection of restaurants and some mediocre shops. Great if you're going to dine, but not a destination for shopping. Save that for Main Street.
We have visited often and never left hungry or disappointed. There are many events throughout the year, wonderful restaurants, a museum close by, and wonderful sea breezes to clear your mind.
