Experience Boston in another way - see it from the ocean. Spectacle island has a beach and a nice hiking path. It also has some intersting artefacts at the pavillion.

Boston Harbor Islands National Park consists of 34 islands. Many of the islands can be visited by regular ferry service, and have visitors centers, campsites, etc. Rainsford Island has none of these - you can visit if you have your own boat, or by trips run by such organizations as Friends of Boston Harbor Islands (FBHI.org). A trip to Rainsford... More

As a past resident of Boston-Cambridge, I have taken this water excursion 1-3 times a year. Last time I did it as a visitor. What a treat! Try to go on good, sunny day. Best of all, take one excursion in the day time, another at sun set. You will see different pictures of Boston and the harbor :)

Many Bostonians have never visited or aren't really aware of the Harbor Islands. The islands make for a great day trip. The ferry ride out is a pleasure in and of itself. Smaller boats will take you between the different islands. Learn about the islands' historical role in protecting Boston, play frisbee, go hiking, swimming, have a picnic. Definitely worth... More

Some of the islands have nice beaches, there is an old fort that was used to keep the British away during the War of 1812 and the Confederacy during the Civil War. Native Americans... More

What a lovely way to spend the day. Bring a picnic and plan to go to the top. Our group of 4 adults and 4 children (ages 8-14) LOVED this - we are all still talking about it.
