I have gone to altamont for several shows with entertainers! It is a great venue for music, with a great sound person and wonderful acoustics. You can have a beer and really hear who ever is playing!

A recent discovery, the free (contributions welcomed) Tuesday night jazz concerts, are a feast!! The musicians have been amazingly talented. It is a delightful addition to our Asheville music scene.

The Altamont actually has a real piano, a baby grand, and it's fine and well-maintained. We like jazz, and The Altamont has at least weekly shows featuring great musicians.

good recommendation by visitors center, the theater was beautifully restored, music was fun, and a lot of variety/jamming. Some of the artists were UNC staff. Bar in the lower level if desired.

The Altamont is tucked away on Church St,. Many people miss this beautiful street because it is "the other way" off Patton Ave. The Altamont has great acoustics and a fabulous calendar of performances. While I will miss their Sunday jazz performances (discontinued), I will go for others because I know I can rely on them being good.
