Had the distinct pleasure of seeing Jonathan Edwards perform at the Altamont Theater. The room seats about 120 and seating is a combination of tables and chairs. There is a small bar downstairs that serve wine and brews (nice selection!). The sound was perfect. JE signed CD's at the merch table after the show. Staff was friendly and helpful. The... More

Atlamont Theater is relatively new to Asheville and already it is developing the well deserved reputation for the best listening room in a town of many fine music venues. First off are the superb acoustics and sound system, really state of the art design and equipment, all manned by a top-notch sound person. The sound guy gets a great feed... More

I have gone to altamont for several shows with entertainers! It is a great venue for music, with a great sound person and wonderful acoustics. You can have a beer and really hear who ever is playing!

A recent discovery, the free (contributions welcomed) Tuesday night jazz concerts, are a feast!! The musicians have been amazingly talented. It is a delightful addition to our Asheville music scene.

The Altamont actually has a real piano, a baby grand, and it's fine and well-maintained. We like jazz, and The Altamont has at least weekly shows featuring great musicians.

good recommendation by visitors center, the theater was beautifully restored, music was fun, and a lot of variety/jamming. Some of the artists were UNC staff. Bar in the lower level if desired.

One of the best Small venues we've been to. Newly renovated. Serves beverages and snacks, great accoustics and friendly staff. Google it before you go and get tickets to see something. It's right downtown. A highlight, Saw Mary Gauthier, Great

The Altamont Theater is located on Church Street, a few blocks from Asheville's downtown life. It is a nice getaway and makes for a wonderful, intimate evening. It is a small venue with cafe tables and it serves up a wide variety of entertainment -- jazz, folk, and bluegrass music, comedy, and more at reasonable prices, both on weekdays and... More

The Altamont is tucked away on Church St,. Many people miss this beautiful street because it is "the other way" off Patton Ave. The Altamont has great acoustics and a fabulous calendar of performances. While I will miss their Sunday jazz performances (discontinued), I will go for others because I know I can rely on them being good.
