Great tour to the desert for star gazing. Alex is very informative and has great equipment. Another wonderful adventure for the whole family. Dress for the weather. It can get cold at night.
I can not say enough about the wonderful tour of the night sky we had with Red Rock Astronomy. When you are on top of a Mesa and can see the night sky from horizon to horizon 360 degrees all the way around in its full beauty and the adventure of learning about the night sky hasnt even started yet...... Alex awed eight of us last night with his presentation and hands-on night sky viewing just inside the Canyonlands Park. This inexpensive adventure would be great for folks of all ages. You will be affirmed in some things that you learned in school AND you will understand more deeply this vast universe in which we live. Give Alex a call...he... More
Alex Ludwig is so entertaining and so knowledgeable. We had so much fun and learned so much as well. His telesope (light bucket) is very high tech and made for a once in a lifetime experience. Alex loves the sky and even better he loves to share it with his guests. Not your usual astronomy lesson, he shows and tells the stories between and behind the constellations. He shares some of his Native heritage with guests. Dress warmly! IIt can get cold even with the blankets that he provides.
This was one of my favorite activies in Utah. Alex was extremely knowledgeable and eagerly explained what he knew. He did not explain constellations at all, but showed us other galaxies, nebula, planets and other interesting things. I was really bummed when it was over as I wanted to see more. I wholeheartedly recommend this excursion.
What a great experience! We met Alex near town, and then we drove about 20 minutes to a high elevation and dark area. Alex had great equipment and a great way of talking about what we were to see or seeing. He added some nice stories which made it a lot of fun. Alex is very professional, extremely knowledgeable and... More
We are lifelong city folk who were aware we have never really seen the skies. What a treat this outing was for all of us. I must say, one of us is very less than sure footed and walking about in the dead dark was a concern (all of Moab is rocky). Alex has the trip set up with great... More
Alex knows a great deal about the cosmos and helps explain things in an understandable way, from the expanding universe with clusters so distant that it's hard to fathom their existence to planets in our own backyard. The viewing area, wherever it may be, is made comfortable with chairs and blankets and is sheltered from significant light pollution. It was... More
The perfect complement to exploring this ancient landscape by day? Observing the brilliant sky by night. Stargazing in this area is spectacular and Alex made it even more so. He's an exceptional guide, setting up each sight through the telescope with relevant cultural, historical and scientific information, engaging the group in conversation, and answering questions along the way. This stargazing... More
