Nice museum and an informative video about Hawaii history and culture. I learned a lot from the visit. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They didn't have wheelchairs available, so that would be a nice addition.

Went kicking and screaming (quietly) to please my wife. Really enjoyed it; spent several hours. One highlight was 83 y/o "Uncle Charlie" weaving a fishnet by hand. Very worth while (don't tell my wife I enjoyed it)
This was my first visit to this 1960-established museum and I was quite impressed. The museum consists of two buildings, which originally housed the local library. We loved this tiny museum of Kauai history. Here's a good chance for an overview of royal history, sugar plantations, and the days of discovery. We loved the vintage photos of the island and people as well as so many personal belongings of the royal family. There are nice collections of wooden bowls, headwear, and furniture. The museum helped us...

I was in search of a Niihau shell necklace, was told they had some there for sale. The selection was very limited but all very pretty. Went to Hawaiian Trading Post found the one for me. The museum has great displays/history of the island. It located right on rice St in Lihue next to the islands county (seat) courthouse.
The Kauai Museum is in a neat old building in downtown Lihue. It houses a great collection of many artifacts that trace the history of the island. Lots of nice things from the last 100 years that come from the families that settled the island's plantations. Good ethnic blending of cultures. Is a must visit to understand how Kauai came...

I find this small museum so hands on and welcoming. The ladies at the front desk are a true asset. While we were their, there were a number of ladies quilting.
We truly enjoyed watching their video relating to Hawaii, its people, and its land. Their artifacts are up close and personal. This is not a large, mighty museum, but...

Our guide was named Roy and was just a wealth of information. He started at the very beginning and explained how the early inhabitants got here by navigating...
