Don't miss this building on your trip to Milwaukee. It's a cathedral on par with anything you will see in Europe. Beautiful stained glass and paintings. What makes it stand out though is that is was built from a post office building that was destroyed in Chicago and the parishioners built it by hand. Even if you aren't catholic, you... More

I was in Milwaukee yesterday and stopped in at the Basilica. My friend and I were the only people there and it was very beautiful. I'm glad we took the time to take a look.

Not a pretty location of town as others have indicated but if you are a Catholic who likes to see where our assets are invested this is beautiful building and preservation. Get past the crack houses and you will find a nice place to pray. Perhaps that you got there:-)

The Basilica is one of the most impressive churches in the United States. Built of salvaged materials by Polish immigrants, it gleams with outstanding mosaics, statuary, and windows. If you're in town when a concert is scheduled at the Basilica, go -- if not for the music, then for the opportunity to contemplate the beauty of this marvelous space.

We visited this fabulous cathedral in an unassuming neighborhood in Milwaukee Sunday as the priest was getting ready to have baby confirmations and it was so nice that services were conducted in this lovely building. Astounding artwork, museum worthy, so we were glad we made the effort to find this gem on our way to the airport.

This is like the duomos in Italy - a work of art everywhere you look. I don't know how attendees keep their minds on their prayers and services. Somewhat surprising is all the writing in Polish everywhere. Of course, it was built by Polish immigrants, but usually churches don't have a lot of writing and when they do it's mostly... More

One of the most beautiful churches in the USA. It is a hidden treasure. Take the free tour after the mass and it is very worthwhile. You will learn how this church was built and became an architechtual masterpiece.

This is a beautiful building. Painstakingly maintained and gorgeous. We were here a couple of Christmas's ago to hear a presentation of Handel's Messiah performed by the Milwaukee Symphony. It was of course a sold out crowd the night we attended with a group of good friends. A true appreciation for not only the music but the presentation of that... More

A lot of hype and attention went into the renovations that occurred in 1997 . . . . . . ahem . . . . . I felt the priests at that time were more concerned about the "look" of the church rather than the people themselves. Be that as it may, the priests were diligent and faithful in ensuring... More

This is a must see when visiting the Metro Milwaukee area. The Basilica is wonderfully beautiful inside and out. Recent addition of air conditioning will make year round visits comfortable for all. Basilica has a very rich history and located in a diverse neighborhood with easy access to nearby freeway. Artwork is splendid and breath taking each visit reveals more... More
