We visited on Saturday, June 8, 2013. The signage to the top of this bluff is very good. The parking in plentiful. The walkway to the lookout is very modern and very well maintained. There are public restrooms as well as a picnic shelter house. The view is fantastic! You can look for miles up and down the Mississippi River... More

As part of our school's state track tradition we always make a trip up to Grandad Bluff! Often times we are in a charter bus - amazing bus drivers won't even cringe at the drive up :) It is beautiful! We take team photos all over the top of the bluff - at the various look outs. We take in... More

Updated the road to get there, also the lookout. It is always nice to view three states, but now even better.

Nice views of the surrounding area. Go on a crystal clear day, but note that the parking is a bit tight. No cost, but no real amenities either. Worth a trip, but don't expect to stay too long.

There is a beautiful view from this location. I was there on an overcast day and it was still beautiful.

Beautiful, beautiful view! Very well planned and maintained area. There is a covered area with two fireplaces. Gorgeous, panoramic view, enhanced by binocular set-ups like you see on tall buildings. You can see all of La Crosse, as well as portions of three states - Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. The road to the top of the bluff is narrow and... More

I learned something new about my husband--he is not a fan of heights! The road leading to the top of the bluff is winding and beautiful. The area is obviously well-kept: clean, updated bathrooms, walkways, etc.

If you ever visit La Crosse by car, you have to take the short drive EAST on Main Street. Continue up the winding narrow blacktop road to the summit to find a La Crosse City Park. From the top of this bluff, you can see entire city, MN bluffs directly west and to the SW you can actually see Iowa... More

Granddad Bluff is a must visit in the Lacrosse area. The road to the bluff had been closed for quite a while due to a washout but is now back open. The small park and shelter house at the top is quite unique. There are safety railings and several excellent vantage points to look at the city of Lacrosse and... More
